Description
They were best friends before he left town without a word. Now he’s back. Will her heart be broken again?
Good girl Portia Phillips always followed the rules, colored inside the lines and walked the straight and narrow. Only her best friend Raymond Alessio could ever get her to quit being “perfect Portia” for a minute and take a risk.
Portia fell in love with Raymond way back in fourth grade. That love only grew stronger as years passed, but she kept it hidden, until one Fourth of July when she finally had the courage to share her feelings.
That was the night he broke her heart. Since then she’s kept it safe, under lock and key.
Now, eight years later, he’s back in town with his young daughter. His life’s a mess, but his love for Portia never changed. Can Raymond convince her to give him another chance? Will Portia find the courage to risk her heart a second time?

Excerpt
A sharp cry followed by a high-pitched wail jerked Portia out of her reverie. Underneath the monkey bars, Serena was helping the blonde child up from the ground. The little girl cried loudly as Serena propped her up with an arm around her shoulder.
“Oh, no.” Portia rushed over to them. The little blonde’s face was bright red, her face streaked with tears. “Sweetie, are you all right?”
“Her name’s Lily. I know her from the afterschool program.” Serena looked stricken. “We were just playing, and she fell.”
“It’s not your fault, Serena.” Portia looked the other child up and down and saw no blood. “Did you hurt yourself, Lily?”
“I want my dad!” The child wailed. “Where’s my daddy?”
“Okay, honey. We’ll find him.” Portia quickly scanned the area. Her gaze flew past the faces of a few adults who had stopped to stare at the spectacle, but no one came forward.
Suddenly a man’s voice sounded behind her. “Lily!”
Portia turned toward the sound and froze. Her heartbeat thudded to a crawl and her tongue glued itself to the roof of her mouth as the man raced toward them.
For an instant, his eyes connected with Portia’s as he swept by her to comfort the little girl. His child.
Suddenly everything around Portia went blurry, as though she were seeing the world through a smear of gel. What kind of crazy hand had fate dealt her, bringing her face to face with Raymond Alessio, after all this time? Here, where she first fell in love with him—and where he later broke her heart.

"Just a Name" by Becky Monson

EXCERPT and GIVEAWAY
Just a Name
by Becky Monson

Just a Name by Becky Monson

This book blast and giveaway for Just a Name by Becky Monson is hosted by I Am A Reader.

Description
Holly has a plan for everything. But she never could have planned for this.
If there’s one thing Holly Murphy loves, it’s a solid plan. She has her entire life figured out - or so she thinks. But when life pulls the rug out from under her, she’s left to deal with a canceled wedding - hers, to be precise. And the promotion she’s worked toward for years is now in jeopardy because the team she supervises doesn’t like her management style.
Thinking that Holly is too tightly wound and needs a break from everything, her boss demands she take a vacation. But how can she take a vacation when her promotion is on the line? Trying to help out, her best friend, Quinn, suggests she still go on her honeymoon and conduct a nationwide search to find a man with the same name as her ex-fiancé to use his plane ticket. Leaving Holly to wonder if she’s the only sane person left on the planet.
Yet when her boss gets wind of the idea and loves it, Holly finds herself in a corner she can’t get out of. And when handsome Nate Jones from Newport Beach gets picked to go with her, she wonders if this whole thing won’t be so bad after all.
Can Holly learn to let go? Or will this crazy adventure send her running right back to her safety net?

Excerpt
“Holly?” a deep voice says from behind me as I wait for my order at the Lava Java, a quaint coffee shop across the street from my office building.
Oh, please not now. Not now. Not. Now.
What’s next? A rainstorm? Actually, that’s highly likely with the smell of rain in the air, the rumble of thunder in the distance, and the ominous clouds I saw as I walked over here. Typical springtime in Orlando.
I turn around and find Logan Palmer standing there in dark jeans, a fitted black T-shirt, and flip-flops. Or, in other words, his standard outfit. The T-shirt color can vary from day to day, but that’s about it. His light-brown hair is disheveled, and the beginnings of stubble appear around his jaw.
“Logan,” I say, feeling like a big chunk of ice just landed in my belly.
So far this morning, I’ve found out my team hates me—and I could miss out on one of the biggest opportunities of my career because of it—and my boss wants me to run away on some crazy trip before I can even fix it.
And now? Now I run into Nathan’s best friend, roommate, and business partner, who has never liked me, and I’m quite sure is one of the reasons things ended like they did. The way Nathan broke it off wreaked of Logan, actually.
“How ... are you?” he asks, his fingers extending and then clenching into fists at his sides. Even with my average height and three-inch heels he has to peer down at me, his sea-blue eyes searching my face as he does. He looks ... nervous.

"Rhapsody and Rebellion" by Aubrey Wynne

EXCERPT and GIVEAWAY
Rhapsody and Rebellion
(Enduring Legacy Book 7)
by Aubrey Wynne

Rhapsody and Rebellion (Enduring Legacy Book 7) by Aubrey Wynne

Rhapsody and Rebellion by Aubrey Wynne is the seventh book in the Enduring Legacy series by various authors. Grab your copy for only $0.99 for a limited time. Also available:

This book blast and giveaway is hosted by I Am A Reader.

Description
An enduring legacy … A rebellion … A destined love …
Raised in his father’s image - practical and disciplined - there are no gray lines interrupting the Earl of Stanfeld’s black and white world. Until his mother has a dream and begs to return to her Highland home.
Alisabeth was betrothed from the cradle. At seventeen, she marries her best friend and finds happiness if not passion. In less than a year, she’s a widow. Vowing to honor her husband’s memory, she joins his activist group of Glasgow weavers and is soon embroiled in the Radical War of 1820.
Crossing the border into Scotland, Gideon finds his predictable world turned upside down. Folklore, legend, and political unrest intertwine with an unexpected attraction to a feisty Highland beauty. But Lissie doesn’t trust the Englishman or the rising desire between them. When the earl learns of an English plot to stir the Scots into rebellion, he must choose his country or save the clan and the woman that stirs his soul.

Excerpt
“Mama, you were dreaming.” Gideon’s thumb stroked the top of her hand, his voice soft and soothing. “Look at me, Mama, and you will see.”
Maeve slowly turned her head, tears now spilling down her cheeks. “Oh Gideon, it was ghastly.”
“What did you dream?”
“It was not a dream.” Her voice faltered. “Your cousin, Ian, is dead.”
“What? Did you receive a letter from Scotland?” Gideon had not seen any correspondence from his mother’s family over the last week, and nothing had arrived today.
“I do not need a letter. I saw it. There has been a terrible slaughter in Manchester, and Ian was trampled by a Hussar’s charger…” She lifted her chin and wiped her wet cheeks with determination. “You must take me home to my clan.”
“To the Highlands? You haven’t been there since your wedding.” He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. “I can’t just run off to Scotland with my aging mother because of a dream.”
“Aging?” Her eyes narrowed, anger shining from beneath her lashes. “I have more stamina than most of those mutton-headed females of the ton.”
He had to agree with her but bit back a smile. “This is folly. A trick of the mind from lack of sleep.” He pressed his lips to her fingers. “Let’s have a glass of sherry, and you’ll feel better after we eat.”
“Don’t patronize me. Your father didn’t believe in…” She took his face in both her hands, strength growing in her touch and her gaze steady and direct. “It doesn’t matter. Listen to me. It was not a dream but a message that we are needed at home.”
“This is our home.” Gideon stood and leaned an arm against the fireplace mantel, worried the past year had also taken a toll on her mind. An uprising in Manchester? There had been rumblings throughout parts of the country but nothing significant.
“This is your home. Mine has always been in Scotland, regardless of how long I’ve been away.” Her eyes pleaded with him.
“What about Marietta’s visit in September?” That would end this foolishness, he was sure.
“It will have to wait until October. You must promise we will leave as soon as you return from London. Or I will go alone.”
He looked up to the ceiling, hoping for some divine intervention. None came. “I give you my word.”

This book blast and giveaway is hosted by I Am A Reader and Clean Wholesome Romance.

Description
His job was to protect her, not fall in love with her.
When Logan Steele is hired to protect an archery champion who is being stalked, the former SEAL automatically assumes his client is a man. Then he meets Weslee Campbell, a beautiful woman with the prettiest light blue eyes he’s ever looked into, and he knows his life is about to change forever. That is, if his fear doesn’t get the best of him. For a man who has faced enemy insurgents, rescued innocent people in the line of fire, and piloted a helicopter without experience to save his SEAL team, he shouldn’t be afraid of anything…yet meeting a pretty girl with a heart of gold has him questioning if he’s brave enough to fall in love.

Excerpt
As they slowly made their way toward the entrance, Weslee regretted her earlier behavior. She’d acted like a spoiled brat when all he was trying to do was keep her out of harm’s way. Her mother had raised her to be a lady, and she needed to make an apology.
She tipped her face up to look at him and realized now was not the time to apologize. Focused and stern looking, Logan honed in on the crowd around them. With his attention riveted on their surroundings, it gave her a moment to really study him. His appearance was a little deceiving. The clean-cut look gave him a hot-boy-next-door kind of vibe. Dressed in the expensive tux, he looked more like a sexy British spy than a soldier. It was his piercing blue eyes that gave him an edge, making him look cool, calm, and dangerous.
As if he knew she was checking him out, his eyes flashed to hers. Glimmering like chips of ice, they held very little warmth and were deadly serious. Still, despite his cool assessment, she felt that magnetic pull toward him. Instead of shrinking away, no doubt what he intended her to do, she held his gaze and gave him a soft smile.
Then she saw it. A fiery attraction flickered behind his eyes just before he shuttered it and looked away. That brief second of intense heat wrapped around her like a warm blanket right out of the dryer. What if Inez was right? What if meeting Logan was her destiny?
